Wine Director Tim Baldwin of Summit - Biography

Leading the beverage program at Summit and The Broadmoor Hotel, Wine Director Tim Baldwin has proven his talent in developing an innovative beverage program and excelling at restaurant management. In 2011 alone, under Baldwin’s leadership, The Broadmoor earned the Cheers Benchmark Award for "Best Hotel Beverage Program" and Summit was named one of Frommer's Travel Guide’s "Top 10 Hotel Restaurants.”

Baldwin first came to The Broadmoor in 2000 where he started as a server in Tavern. He quickly rose to assistant manager and sommelier at Penrose Room, a restaurant in the hotel. In 2006, Baldwin was given the opportunity to open Summit and serve as general manager, and shortly after, he was named wine director of The Broadmoor.

Baldwin’s ongoing pursuit for advancement in his career has contributed to his culinary success. He is certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers as an Advanced Sommelier and has been selected twice to take the Master Sommelier exam. His wine knowledge and skills have given him the opportunity to compete at the national and international levels; in 2011, Baldwin was named the “Best Sommelier” at the Copa Jerez World Championships in Spain, and most recently, he won the Southwest Region Chaîne des Rôtisseurs "Best Young Sommelier" competition in early 2012.

Baldwin has also judged several prestigious wine competitions, including the Denver International Wine and Spirits Competitions and the Governor’s Cup Colorado Wine Competition. He was recognized by Restaurant Hospitality magazine in their "Top 30 Under 30" ranking of hotel food and beverage professionals.
