Gee Free Foods named one of the top 20 most exciting new food innovation displays at the 2015 International Restaurant & Foodservice Show

Gee free foods, a NEW to market gluten free manufacturer, is delighted to announce being named one of the top 20 new food innovation displays at the 2015 International Restaurant & Foodservice Show held March 8-10 at the Jacob Javits convention center in New York, NY. Gee free foods was selected as one of the most exciting new product innovations on display by a group of restaurant and foodservice journalists.

Puff flaky pastry sheets are gee free food’s main product and all hor d'oeuvres are created from the dough. The dough is a potato starch and butter base with no corn or soy and the product line includes tasty treats such as spanakopita, uncured beef in a blanket, chicken pot pie, cheeseburger bites, mini apple empanadas, olive, red pepper and cheese, cranberry and caramelized onion tartlets.

“Our certified gluten free puff flaky pastry dough meets customer demand for more options and versatility within the gluten free food space,” says Michael Sass, the company’s Director of Food Service Sales. About gee free foods: It all started less than a year ago when Susan Hougui, a long-time food professional technologist visited with friends when traveling overseas. The family needed to avoid gluten and Susan was served the most delicious puff pastries. Susan had never had anything quite like these crispy yet tender, tasty treats. Excited, she wasted no time calling master baker and friend Steven Leyva. Steven has 3 retail bakeries in NJ and started baking GF for his niece. Steven discovered early on that GF was going to be a huge market and they began perfecting a certified gluten free puff flaky pastry dough.

Michael Sass was brought onto the gee free team to sell to the foodservice industry. He saw gee free in Shop Rite, then bought, tasted and loved the product. After buying and tasting hundreds of gluten free products over the years, Michael who is a Salesman and an avid baker and cook, quickly realized the quality and taste of gee free's new first to market product and wanted to get on board. His interest in gluten free food was initiated by being highly impacted by his daughter Francesca's celiac diagnosis at age 5.
